So, here’s the story: after traveling to Lombok three times and always avoiding Senggigi—because I thought it lacked adventure and was too touristy—I finally set foot in Senggigi!
It turns out, this place, which is a top destination for tourists visiting Lombok, is actually pretty cool!
Although it’s definitely a “tourist-heavy” spot, the atmosphere is still more enjoyable than Kuta in Bali.
Yes, Kuta in Bali has become a bit chaotic and messy! #SaveKutaBali for sure!
There are several tourist attractions in Senggigi, Lombok, that you can visit when you’re on holiday here. Of course, most of the attractions are beach-related, but you’ll also find cultural and culinary experiences.
Overall, this place is pretty fun as your next holiday destination. It definitely competes with other tourist spots in Lombok.
Here’s a little story from my experience exploring some captivating tourist spots in Senggigi, Lombok!
This time, my travel style was not too rough-and-tumble. Besides having free tickets from Garuda Indonesia (my favorite airline), I got a discount to stay at The Jayakarta Lombok Beach Resort!
Being a backpacker doesn’t always have to mean being broke.
Even better, the standard room I booked through Agoda was sold out, so they upgraded me to a deluxe room for free, with no additional charges!
Lucky me, this trip to Lombok happened because I recently won a writing competition themed “Journey of Love.” The competition was organized by Kompasiana and sponsored by Garuda Indonesia, Steak Hotel by Holycow, and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Too bad I only got free flight tickets—it should’ve been an all-inclusive deal! Including accommodation and transportation—oh well! But still, thanks to them for the free tickets.
At least I could still explore some cool tourist spots in Senggigi, Lombok.
Exploring Senggigi was actually pretty fun!

This time, my main destination in Lombok was Senggigi! Yes, Senggigi in West Lombok! Not South Lombok or East Lombok anymore!
I was really curious about some of the tourist spots in Senggigi, Lombok, and wanted to explore them further.
When you hear “Senggigi,” you probably just imagine Senggigi Beach, right? But actually, Senggigi is made up of several nearby areas, with lots of beaches scattered around the region!
So, it’s not just about one beach; the Senggigi area is actually quite large. There are several cool spots to explore here.
After realizing that Senggigi isn’t just about Senggigi Beach, I became even more excited! That means there are many places to explore in Senggigi, Lombok.
Especially in some of the main surrounding areas, like Mangsit, which is located north of Senggigi and serves as the main gateway to the Three Gili Islands and Mount Rinjani.
Then there’s Kerandangan, a quiet and beautiful beach that’s perfect for selfies.
Senggigi itself is the center of hotels, restaurants, and nightlife.
And lastly, there’s Batu Bolong, just south of Senggigi, famous for its Batu Bolong Temple. Like Mangsit, it’s an area where hotels and accommodations line the beach.
There are many beautiful beaches around Senggigi.

As one of Lombok’s main destinations, Senggigi is surrounded by exotic beaches!
I say “exotic” because most of the beaches around here have black sand. Then there’s also a beach with black sand mixed with white sand, like Kerandangan Beach.
After visiting, I found that Kerandangan Beach is one of my favorite beaches in North Lombok!
The view at this beach is incredibly stunning! It’s like that feeling when you see your partner for the first time after being in a long-distance relationship for more than two months! Oops!
It’s definitely one of my favorite tourist spots in Senggigi, Lombok!

Moving on from the beach attractions, Senggigi also has another side that’s quite fun to explore!
What is it? The nightlife! Whether it’s like in Legian, Bali (parties, clubs, etc.) or the street nightlife with local hangouts!
It’s also fun to hang out in Lombok. Especially hanging out while sipping coffee and eating grilled corn near the beach. The sound of the waves is incredibly enjoyable while you eat grilled corn.
It’s not just beaches; the hangout spots and culinary scene in Senggigi are also interesting.
Besides the tourist spots in Senggigi, Lombok, being mostly beaches, there are plenty of cafes and bars scattered around, though not as crowded or wild as Kuta, Bali.
At least Senggigi’s nightlife can satisfy the party-goers’ desire for a night out.
Unfortunately, I’m not a party-goer or clubber, so I prefer to hang out at a bend in the road by the beach while enjoying my Saturday night.
For those who don’t know, every bend in Senggigi is always crowded with locals. They usually hang out while drinking coffee, chatting with friends and partners, or just eating grilled corn in the dark while having romantic conversations like me. Uwooooo… wish I could do that every Saturday night!
As a culinary traveler, of course, the culinary scene in Senggigi is also part of my exploration!
Trying out the local food is part of my list of things to explore in Senggigi, Lombok.
There are so many food options to try here, from the cheapest to the most expensive! From Asian to Western-style dishes, they’ve got it all!
So, don’t worry about going hungry here! Just choose what you want to eat! Yesterday, I had a large portion of sea crab for dinner!
Yeah, since it’s so close to the sea, I just wanted to eat seafood!
It would be a shame to visit Lombok without trying the seafood.

Don’t forget to shop for souvenirs at Senggigi Art Market.
Finally, for shopaholics or those who love buying souvenirs, you can stop by the Art Market.
Whether it’s for friends, family, partners, or even secret lovers, go ahead!
In Senggigi, there’s a special place to satisfy your shopping desires.
Even though it’s not a mall, Senggigi’s art market is pretty interesting for spending your money.
They sell all kinds of Lombok souvenirs at reasonable prices.
Plus, browsing is free, and you can take all the selfies you want!
But it’s better to share the wealth by buying some souvenirs at the art market.
At least by buying souvenirs, you’re supporting the growth of tourism in this area.
So, besides exploring Senggigi’s natural attractions, you can also shop to your heart’s content here.
