I’m crazy about all kinds of biscuits—chocolate, cheese, oat, and especially peanut butter. Oh, peanut butter is my absolute favorite! So, when I received an invitation to visit the Julie’s Biscuit factory in Malacca, I was thrilled beyond words. This felt like a dream come true! Imagine being surrounded by biscuits in every direction—wouldn’t it feel like heaven?

A Privileged Visit to Julie’s Factory in Malacca

The Julie’s Biscuit factory is located in Malacca, about a two-hour bus ride from Kuala Lumpur. As soon as I arrived, the scorching heat greeted me, but it didn’t dampen my excitement to step into the factory. I couldn’t wait!

After lunch and a brief introduction to the history of Julie’s, we were taken inside the factory. Not everyone gets to go in, and even fewer are allowed to take photos or videos for security reasons. Lucky for me, as a blogger, I was granted exclusive access! So, here I am sharing the entire experience with you. Keep reading, guys!

The mouthwatering aroma of freshly baked biscuits filled the air the moment I arrived at Julie’s factory gates. My nose couldn’t stop sniffing—it was that tempting! Before entering the production area, we had to suit up in white coats, hair caps, and shoe covers for hygiene purposes. I felt super cool—almost like a doctor! Once dressed, we were ready to witness the magic of biscuit-making.

Watching Julie’s biscuits being made from dough to packaging was fascinating. Knowing that these treats are crafted using only the best ingredients and produced in a clean, high-standard environment made me an even bigger fan. It’s no surprise their biscuits are now enjoyed in 80 countries worldwide. Quality truly speaks louder than any marketing campaign.

Julie’s: More Than Just Biscuits—A Company That Spreads Love

This visit wasn’t just educational—it was deeply moving. You’re probably wondering, how can a biscuit factory visit be emotional? Well, let me explain.

We had the chance to meet Mr. Su Chin Hock, the Managing Director of Julie’s Malaysia, who shared some heartwarming stories about their employee programs. One initiative, Share the Love, stood out to me. Julie’s provides a donation box where employees can contribute small amounts of money, which are later distributed to colleagues facing hardships. It’s a simple yet impactful way to foster kindness and solidarity. This taught me a valuable lesson: even the smallest acts, like pooling loose change, can make a significant difference.

Another touching moment was learning about the long-term dedication of Julie’s employees. Many have been with the company for decades. Those who have worked for 20 years are invited to a special dinner with Mr. Su Chin Hock himself—a personal gesture of gratitude. I’ll admit, I got teary-eyed hearing about this. Such respect and recognition for employees truly reflect Julie’s culture of care.

What moved me further was how Julie’s supports its aging workforce. Older employees who wish to continue working are reassigned to less demanding roles, ensuring they remain productive without being forced into retirement. This level of respect for the elderly is rare and admirable. It’s no wonder Julie’s has thrived for over four decades, continuously expanding and building a strong foundation since its establishment in the 1980s. Seeing this firsthand filled my heart with warmth. Companies that treat their employees well always earn my utmost respect.

Sweet Ending to an Unforgettable Visit

As a parting gift, we received an abundance of Julie’s products, including some that aren’t yet available in Indonesia. Oh, and the logos on display behind us? Those are the halal and quality certifications Julie’s has proudly achieved.

This experience wasn’t just about biscuits; it was a glimpse into a company that values quality, kindness, and respect—a recipe for success that leaves a lasting impression.

Strolling Around Malacca City

After enjoying the fascinating process of making Julie’s biscuits, we were taken on a tour of Malacca. This city, filled with charming historical buildings, is truly captivating and always bustling with visitors! Every day, buses full of tourists arrive from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, or even Thailand. Malacca’s location is quite strategic—just about a 5-hour bus ride from Singapore and 4 hours from the Thai border. No wonder it’s such a popular stop for travelers.

Exploring Kuala Lumpur

After spending one night in Malacca, we headed to explore Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Malaysia’s capital, once a muddy mining town (hence the name Kuala Lumpur, meaning “muddy confluence”), has transformed into a magnificent metropolitan city with towering skyscrapers. In Kuala Lumpur, we visited the National Palace, the iconic Twin Towers, and the National Mosque. Meanwhile, in Putrajaya, we enjoyed a scenic tour around the lake, taking in sights like the Pink Mosque and the Prime Minister’s Office.

Eating to Your Heart’s Content

“It’s not a true trip to Malaysia if you don’t gain at least 3kg!” joked one of the Julie’s team members when we arrived. And honestly, dieting here is nearly impossible. The abundance of delicious food makes your taste buds dance and your stomach rejoice.

In Malaysia, the term Peranakan refers to the fusion of Malay and Chinese cultures, often known as Baba and Nyonya. Their cuisine is simply delightful! My personal favorites were the Prawn and Fish Curry, rich and creamy with flavors that melt in your mouth. Another thing I noticed is how much Malaysians love okra as a vegetable. It’s tender, slightly chewy, and surprisingly addictive!
