Even then, my main goal was Hallstatt, and after doing some research, I decided to spend some time in Salzburg before heading to Hallstatt.

 

Kyle and I took a 4.5-hour train ride from Ljubljana, Slovenia, to Salzburg, with a 1.5-hour layover in Villach, a small Austrian town. It was a good opportunity to get a glimpse of another town, albeit briefly. The journey from Ljubljana to Salzburg went smoothly, and we had an entire train compartment to ourselves, so there was no need to share with other passengers. However, the train itself looked quite old and hadn’t been cleaned when we boarded. The exterior was covered in graffiti, reminding me of the local trains I had taken from Milan to Como in Italy. Honestly, the executive trains in Indonesia are much better in comparison. The only downside of my travels in Slovenia was this old train.

That evening, we finally arrived at Salzburg Hauptbahnhof. Without wasting any time, we hopped on a bus to the suburbs of Salzburg, where we had booked an Airbnb. Although the location was a bit far from the city center (about an hour away), the next morning, I was pleasantly surprised by the stunning view from our Airbnb, which cost only 44 Euros per night.
