Malaysia isn’t just about Kuala Lumpur! If you’re looking for a refreshing getaway in this neighboring country, Genting is a must-visit. It’s just a two-hour drive from KL. It’s been about five years since my last trip to Resorts World Genting, but the excitement still lingers. They say good memories last forever, right? I can still vividly recall the thrill of riding the Space Shot, the Sky Venture (skydiving simulator), indulging in delicious meals at Bubbles and Bites, strolling through Lavender Park, and even enjoying durians! Visiting Genting is like a complete package of fun.

Now, Resorts World Genting is undergoing renovations to transform into an even more exciting theme park, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. Here are the highlights from my 4-day, 3-night trip that was packed with fun!

1. Ride the Gondola on the New Awana SkyWay

When was the last time you rode a gondola? For me, it had been ages! A gondola ride is a must-do at Resorts World Genting. The standard gondola fare is just RM 8 for a round trip, and you can stop at several stations, including the beautiful Chin Swee Caves Temple, for exploration.

How does it feel to ride a gondola? It’s exhilarating! Our group couldn’t stop laughing and enjoying the view. For an even more thrilling experience, try the glass-floor gondola for RM 50. The stunning green scenery below is absolutely worth it! The SkyWay has a total of 99 gondolas, each accommodating up to 10 passengers. However, to ensure comfort, most rides are capped at around six people per gondola.

2. Indulge in Culinary Delights

The chilly weather in Genting makes it the perfect place for foodies! Eating in the cool mountain air feels even more satisfying. Resorts World Genting offers a variety of dining options.

  • Western cravings? Head to Bubbles and Bites.
  • Pizza lover? Motorino is the spot for you.
  • Fancy a Parisian vibe? Visit Caffé Richard.
  • Love seafood? The Steamboat Restaurant is your answer!

3. Shopping at SkyAvenue Mall

Shopping takes on a new level of excitement at SkyAvenue Mall, located 6,000 feet above sea level. The cool air and the unique setting make for a memorable retail experience.

Spread across four levels, the mall offers:

  • Level 1: Food and beverage outlets.
  • Level 2: High-end luxury brands.
  • Level 3: Street fashion and trendy stores like Padini, Giordano, Swarovski, Kiehl’s, and more.
  • Level 4: Malaysian cuisine and the Awana Connectivity Hub for gondola rides.

4. Trekking in Fashion Forest

Trekking in Genting takes a tech-savvy turn at Fashion Forest. This innovative trail provides information through interactive boards you can access via your smartphone, all while staying connected with Wi-Fi.

For an adventurous twist, try the Night Herping experience, where you can spot nocturnal animals like reptiles and snakes. It’s a thrilling and educational activity!

5. Visit the Seni Kome Cultural Centre

If you’re interested in Malaysian culture, especially from the East Coast, this cultural center is a must-visit. For just RM 10 (adults) or RM 8 (children), you can explore traditional games, arts and crafts, reading rooms, and even a souvenir shop.

There’s also a family package available for RM 32, which includes entry for two adults and two children—a great deal compared to individual tickets!

So, whether you’re after breathtaking views, delicious food, exciting activities, or cultural insights, Resorts World Genting has it all. Ready for your next adventure? 😊

6. Discover the History of Genting at the Visitors’ Galleria

Did you know that Resorts World Genting has been around for over 50 years? What started as a single hotel has now grown into a massive complex featuring six hotels with a total of 9,000 rooms, theme parks (a new concept launching next year), entertainment attractions, a shopping mall, and even a casino.

How do I know all this? By visiting the Visitors’ Galleria, where the history and origins of Resorts World Genting are beautifully displayed. It’s a fascinating stop for those curious about how this iconic destination came to be.

7. Relax at the English Garden

One foggy morning, my friends and I took a leisurely walk to a charming little garden behind our hotel. The English Garden offers stunning views of Genting’s valleys, with gondolas passing in the distance. The atmosphere is serene, perfect for unwinding and taking in the natural beauty.

Some say the best time to visit is during sunset for an even more magical experience. Unfortunately, I was busy exploring other attractions in the evening, but I hope to catch a sunset here on my next trip!

8. Watch the LED Show & Sky Symphony

This is a must-see! The Sky Symphony is a mesmerizing musical and light performance with a captivating storyline. Even better, it’s free and takes place at the center of SkyAvenue Shopping Mall.

9. Visit Chin Swee Caves Temple

This popular temple is a short gondola ride from Resorts World Genting, followed by a quick escalator trip. At the Chin Swee Caves Temple, you’ll find a magnificent pagoda, a statue of Buddha, and a spring believed to have healing properties. The tranquil surroundings make it a perfect spot to reflect and soak in the peaceful vibes.

My Stay at Theme Park Hotel

During my trip, I stayed at the Theme Park Hotel, which offers a variety of room types to accommodate 3, 4, or even 6 people. They also have wheelchair-accessible rooms, making it a great choice for all travelers.

The hotel has quirky features, like a fun 3D photo area in the lobby and unique room designs. Charging devices is a breeze—you only need your data cable as the outlets support various plug types.

Another thoughtful touch? The bathrooms and toilets are separated, so there’s no conflict if someone’s showering and another needs the toilet urgently. Also, room numbers are displayed on the floor instead of above the doors. Pretty unique, right?

Resorts World Genting has so much to offer, from its rich history and scenic gardens to exciting shows and cultural sites. It’s a destination that truly has something for everyone! 😊
